Volunteering Opportunities At Stockport Women’s Centre
How You Can Help
Can you commit to 3 hours of your time a week?
Undertake a minimum level of training; The centre has it’s own in-house induction training session so you can get to know more about the centre and how things work.
Depending on your volunteer role, other training available includes:
- Values Workshop
- Equality and Diversity
- Telephone Training & Listening Skills.
Voluntary organisations in Stockport are supported by Stockport Council in their training of volunteers.

We have a Range of Volunteer Roles:
“I want to be able to use my experiences to help and advise other women.”
Qualified volunteers help us to deliver counselling and psychotherapy.
Students on placement are a vital part of the Counselling team.
“Definitely useful and rewarding to work for a group of people that are passionate about helping others.”
The centre has a number of weekly drop-in sessions, where women can come to the centre to find out about what we do. It’s the first step in accessing any of the services available.
- Do you find it easy to talk to people?
- Are you a good listener?
- Have you got a background, or work experience, in mental health or any kind of support work?
