Student Placements:

Trainee counsellor placements:

We have a limited number of places available for counsellors in training. This is because many of the women waiting for counselling need to be seen by a qualified counsellor, so we may not be able to offer you enough hours to complete your placement hours. However, if you have a background / work experience in mental health or support work, then please get in touch with your CV.  Please note that you need to have at least 30 hours of 1:1 counselling client experience to be considered.

We are BACP accredited (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy)
BACP is the professional association for members of the counselling professions in the UK.

Trainee Social worker placements

We have a working agreement with the University of Salford for the placement of social work students, including our own in-house practice teacher.

Placements are available for second and third year students.

Learning opportunities involve holding a caseload offering 1-1 support, drop-in work, attending statutory meetings, group facilitation, needs and risk assessments, safeguarding experience and crisis interventions. Our centre offers a safe learning environment, with access to a multi-disciplinary team with wide-ranging expertise.

“Considering my new/current research position at Keele University exploring experiences of domestic abuse among young people, I am sure that my time at the centre contributed to my application being a success.”
