How do I register?
You can call us to register over the phone or come along to our registration drop in on a Tuesday morning, 9.30am – 11.30am. Contact us here.
Registration will take around 15 minutes with one of our friendly staff members or volunteers.
Once you’re registered you can attend as many of the group activities and drop-in sessions as you’d like – you can see our activities timetable here.
Once you’re registered, if you feel you need more intensive, one-to-one support we can work through a more detailed assessment together. This will help us decide what support might be right for you and where to start.
Many of the women who use our centre are facing more than one challenge in life – we understand life is complicated. We’re a trauma informed service and will always work with you at a pace that feels safe.

More information about our service:
Who is eligible to register?
Our services are open to any women aged 18 and over who live in Stockport. You will need to provide your address and date-of-birth to register with us.
Can I refer someone else (as a professional, relative or friend) for support or can another organisation refer me?
We do not take referrals directly from professionals (NHS, social services etc) however we encourage service providers to give our details to women who would benefit from our support and provide help so they can contact us themselves.
If you are a friend or relative of a woman who you think would benefit from our support, they would need to contact us themselves to get support.
I’ve been signposted to the women’s service. Does this mean I am registered?
If you have been signposted to Stockport Women’s Centre by another service (such as NHS or social services) it means they are recommending that you contact us for support. You still need to register with us yourself to access our services and support.
How long does it take to get one-to-one support after being registered?
If you are in a domestic abuse situation, we can provide immediate registration and support at our domestic abuse drop-in. This takes place every Monday morning 9.30am – 11.30am.
Due to the huge demand for our one-to-one work, there may be a few weeks’ wait between being registered with us and starting counselling or casework support. You can discuss this with a staff member when you register to find out how long it may be. You can access support at our drop-ins in the meantime, if this is something that feels safe for you.
How much does it cost to get support?
Nothing! We are a registered charity and all our services are free for women to access.
Is there a time limit on support?
No – the women’s centre is here for as long as you need us. You can attend as many of our groups and drop-ins during the week as you want to, for as long as you want to.
Our counselling service and case work services will work with you to decide the right number of sessions that are right for you.
